  HiCoins as reward: 0 (problem unresolved)

Hi, if I were to give 10Mbps per customer and if I have a 1.25G sfp transceiver then theoretically and practically how many customers can I have without any bandwidth congestion?  Thanks!

Hello, friend!

The upstream rate of GPON is 1.25 Gbit/s and the downstream rate is 2.5 Gbit/s. If you want to provide 10 Mbit/s bandwidth for each user, check whether the 10 Mbit/s bandwidth is upstream or downstream.

The upstream bandwidth is 1.25 Gbit/s. However, each ONT consumes not only the fixed bandwidth required by the ONT, but also other gaps for management.

Therefore, you need to synchronize the specific network planning solution,
Generally, the number of users to be planned is determined based on the actual situation.

Thanks!

Is there any documentation on planning?

The 1.25 Gbit/s SFP transceiver you consult is an optical module. In addition, you need to check the type of the optical module, which is class B+ class C class C++.
Class B+: 28 dB, most commonly used
Class C+: 32 dB, long-distance transmission
CLASS C++:35dB
Maximum split ratio:
Class B+: 1:64
Class C+/ C++: 1:128

Hi,
Theoretically, if the no packets dropping considered, up to 1.25*1024/10=128, I think.
