Hi, dear!

(All the friends who see this post, hope you can join this topic.)

5G is the most popular and cutting-edge technology. When we talk about mobile phone networks and Wi-Fi networks, we always think of 5G. In the access network section, many friends ask how to set 5G for ONTs and routers. But do you know what this 5G is? What is the difference between 5G and 5G Hz?

5G

If you're not clear about 5G, that's fine. I've recently posted two detailed introductions to 5G in the Access Network section, and you can easily find them. You can refer to the sharing post to post your ideas.

I'd like to post this discussion post to open up your understanding of 5G and 5G Hz, and welcome your comments.

Hope the comments on this post were helpful to all of us.

Thank you for your participation!

5G network represents a technology, while 5G Wi-Fi is a spectrum. The former refers to the 5th-generation cellular mobile communications technology which is capable of offering comprehensive mobile services, including voice, SMS, and broadband, while the latter is used to set up a wireless local area network on a specific frequency band for broadband services only. Due to its limited coverage, 5G Wi-Fi is mainly used for indoor hotspot coverage.

5G is the fifth generation of cellular networks. Up to 100 times faster than 4G, 5G is creating never-before-seen opportunities for people and businesses.
They have the same name and share similar technology, but they are not the same thing. To break it down simply, “5G Wifi” technically called 5GHz (gigahertz) is a frequency band and 5G cellular refers to the word “generation.”
5G and 5 GHz Wi-Fi are wireless Internet connectivity devices. These two have similar names, similar techniques but different attributes.

Thank you! I'm glad to hear you say that.
5G and 5 GHz Wi-Fi are both used for wireless connectivity, but they have no other common.

Simply: 5 GHz (Five GigaHertz) is a radio frequency system.
and 5G is the 5th generation of cellular standard

The 5G network will provide higher data rates, lower latency, lower energy consumption, lower costs, system capacity improvements, and larger-scale device connection. 5G Wi-Fi refers to the Wi-Fi operating in the 5Ghz radio wave band. Higher wireless transmission speed is the highlight of 5G Wi-Fi.

5G Network is the fifth generation mobile communication network. Theoratically speaking, its peak transmission speed can reach 1GB every 8 seconds, which is more than 10 times faster than that of 4G network. The entry-level speed of 5G Wi-Fi is 433Mbps, which is at least three times the 2.4G Wi-Fi rate. Some high-performance 5G Wi-Fi can even reach higher than 1Gbps.

5GHz Wifi
Wifi has two frequencies, 2.4 GHz and 5GHz. 2.4 GHz is the default for most devices which causes the speed to decline but the availability throughout the house is better. 5GHz delivers faster speeds but does not pass-through walls easily and the range tends to be shorter. If you see 5G on your network just know it’s 5GHz.

5G Cellular
5G in cellular terms is just confusing marketing jargon that stands for the 5th generation of cellular network technology. 5G is designed to offer faster speeds per user and handle more connections per tower.
