Test Case Objective : To verify loop-protection functionality on Distribution switch  

Precondition :

1. Verify loop-protection is running on the switch

2. The test shall take an existing fiber connection to perform the test

Procedural Description :

1. Ensure loop-protection is enabled on an interface on  device uplink 

2. Connect the TX (transmit) end fiber cable to the same interface RX (receive) end, to create a loop connection

3. Observe the interface status on by console connection

4. Loop-protection shall be able to detect this error and put the port into disable state

Input Data :

1. Issue the command “display stp brief” to verify the loop protection status before the test

2. When the connection loop is form, issue the command “ display stp interface interface-type interface-number” to check the status. 

3. When the port receives BPDUs again, the port status changes to Forwarding.

Expected Result : Loop-protection feature is able to detect incorrect cable connection, and suspend the interface
