Hello, everyone.
In this post, I would like to share with you how to configure Transparent Transmission of Clock Information on OSN 9800.
Some services carried by OSN network need the OSN network transports clock signal. When no clock board is configured for a site, for example, an optical line amplifier (OLA) site or a site that don't have the need to get a synchronization signal, it's advised to configure the ST2/AST2 board at the site, to transparently transmit physical clocks and IEEE 1588v2 clocks. That means, the ST2/AST2 board transparently transmits frequency/phase signals to the downstream site without extract or process the frequency/phase signals.
To configure that, in the U2000 NE Explorer, click the NE and choose Configuration > Clock > Clock Signal Pass-through.
Click Query to query the ST2 board transparently transmit clock information.
Click Create. The Create Clock Signal Pass-through dialog box is displayed. In the dialog box, set parameters such as Source Slot, Source Port, Sink Slot, Sink Port, and Pass-through Type as required.
The Pass-through Type can be configured to PTP Clock, or Physical Clock according to your needs. PTP clock is another saying of IEEE 1588v2 clock.
If this site needs to extract clock signals in the future, just delete this clock signal pass-through configuration would work.
That's all, I hope you like it.
Thank you!
