Hello, everyone!

Today, I'd like to share a case with you.

Problem Description

requirement:

1 Metro DWDM ring

4 NEs in the ring

Equipment Type: OSN 1800 I/II

2 x10GE service per segment using TNF2LSX

1st 10GE client equipment is an Alcatel 7450

Alarms are as follows:
Site A: ODU2_PM_OCI in both LSX

Site B: LINK_ERR in both LSX

Problem Analysis

1. Troubleshooting details:

Verify the link commissioning - OK
Check on higher alarms – LINK ERR on both LSX in Site B
Check for loopback on both cards - NONE
LSX hardware reset – Alarm still did not clear

2. Alarm is still present after all the troubleshooting done in Item No.3.

Root Cause

possible reasons:

1. The corresponding board at the upstream station has the ODU2_PM_OCI alarm. - None as checked

2. There is loopback on the corresponding board at the opposite station. - None as checked

3. The corresponding board at the opposite station has no cross-connection configuration and enable the non-intrusive monitoring function at the local station. - No electrical cross-connection (XC) as checked. But based on experience, there is no need to create an electrical cross-connection on LSX and OSN 1800 does not support electrical XC function.

Solution Description

Attempted to create an electrical XC on LSX. The alarm was cleared.

Thank you!
