Tips for Disabling the Host Multipathing Alarm Function

Background: There is an S5500T V1R5 storage device at XXX site. The equipment room administrator wants to disable the multipathing alarm function but does know how to. He turned to Mr. W for help. Unfortunately, Mr. W did not know how to disable the multipathing alarm function either. What happen now?

chghpalmsw (for T Series V100R005)

Function

Sets the switch status of the host path alarm funciton. You can run this command to enable or disable the host path alarm funciton.

Format

chghpalmsw -sw switch

Parameters

 Keyword and Parameter

 -sw switch

Enables or disables the host path alarm function.

The value can be on or off, where:
  • on indicates that you want to enable the host path alarm function.
  • off indicates that you want to disable the host path alarm function.

Usage Guidelines

After you run this command to disable the host path alarm function, the existing alarms about host paths cannot be automatically moved to the historic alarm list. The involved alarms include "The UltraPath is not installed on the host or the installed UltraPath is of an early version", "The UltraPath on the host is incompatible with the storage array software", "The LUN cannot be accessed through a redundant path", "The link from the host to the storage array is faulty", and "The link between the host and the storage array is unstable". You have to manually move those alarms.

Example

  • Enable the host path alarm function.
    admin:/>chghpalmsw -sw on
    command operates successfully.
    
  • Disable the host path alarm function.
    admin:/>chghpalmsw -sw off
    command operates successfully.
System Response
Run the showhpalmsw command to view the switch status of the host path alarm function.
