Hi all,

By the value of 'Time Performance Statistics' in the output of the display ptp all command as below,

1) How can we know whether the time performance statistics are good or not?

2) What is the indicator of each value [Realtime(T2-T1), Max(T2-T1),  Min(T2-T1) ] to know whether the time performance is good or not ??

3) In which scenario the value of 'Realtime(T2-T1), Max(T2-T1), Min(T2-T1)'  become '- xx'?  Such as Realtime(T2-T1): -99?

4) Can we generate the alarm if the Realtime(T2-T1) is lower than a specific value?

Hello,

1) How can we know whether the time performance statistics are good or not?

Answer: Run the 'display ptp all' command to collect the number of consecutive times. Observe the change of Realtime (T2-T1) in the display ptp all command. If the change is small (usually within dozens of nanoseconds), the change of the timestamp is stable and the performance is normal.

2) What is the indicator of each value [Realtime(T2-T1), Max(T2-T1),  Min(T2-T1) ] to know whether the time performance is good or not ??

Answer: Realtime(T2-T1), Max(T2-T1) and Min(T2-T1) indicate the real-time value, historical maximum value, and historical minimum value of T2–T1.

We can determine whether the time is locked properly by observing whether the value of Realtime (T2–T1) changes stably and slightly.

3) In which scenario the value of 'Realtime(T2-T1), Max(T2-T1), Min(T2-T1)'  become '- xx'?  Such as Realtime(T2-T1): -99?

Answer: Due to delay compensation, for example, if the fiber distance between the upstream and downstream NEs is short, the value of T2-T1 may be negative. This is because the T2-T1 queried in this command takes the internal delay compensation of the device into account.

4) Can we generate the alarm if the Realtime(T2-T1) is lower than a specific value?

Answer: In fact, it is unnecessary to focus on the value of Realtime (T2-T1) that is less than a specific value. We only need to determine that the real-time value of T2-T1 changes stably and has a small amplitude, so as to determine the time locking status.
