Hi,

I have three cascaded inverters SUN2000-2KTL-L1 and one DTSU666-H.

The Smart Dongle WLAN-FE is connected in the first inverter using an ethernet cable, configured to use Modbus TCP, restricted to the PC IP I am using, both are in the same subnet.

The firmwares used are:

- On SUN2000 Inverters: V200R001C00SPC115

- On Smart Dongle WLAN-FE: V100R001C00SPC124

The modbus cable is going from the DTSU666-H to the first inverter (the one with the smart dongle) on port 3(B2) and 4(A2) , from the first inverter port 1 and 2  to the second (1.2 too) and from the second (1,2) to the third (1,2).

I have a PC from where I try to read one register from the smart meter and one register from each inverter, one after the other with 2s interval.

My problem is that I have regular timeouts on these reads, sometimes it's not working during a few minutes and restart to work.

I did the settings on the inverter as describe in one of the forum article and I am (I think) using the correct firmwares so I dont know what I am doing wrong.

If someone has the experience quering multiple inverters, do you experience the same modbus timeout ? On my side, if I use a connection timeout of less than a second I can't really connect to the dongle.

One question I have is about the modbus line, do I have to place a termination resistor ?

If yes, were do I need one ? On the first inverter and the last one between port A1 and B1 ? Somewhere else ?

Which resistors value should I use ?

Thank you

Hello, friend.

For details, see section "Connecting Signal Cables" in SUN2000-(2KTL-6KTL)-L1 User Manual. Checking Inverter Cascading Scenarios. Check whether the cables are correctly connected. If the cable connection and networking mode are correct and the problem persists, you need to seek the help of the PV center. You can send an email to the following address to describe your problem and attach your SN.

I checked the connection, probably one of the connector was not set correctly, after checking everything it is much better, I still have a time out from time to time but nothing dramatic.
Thank you for the suggestion.

I have + - this same problem, the first reading register is almost always in time-out also I foresee this one + wait of 100ms before remaking a second and if this one works then there is no more errors

I get best results not using the dongle, but boring 1 socket per inverter and keeping it open as the readings then hardly ever cause any problems.

If there is the slightest error, the socket is closed, delay 3 seconds, ping, socket opening and it restarts (therefore interrupted 5 sec max in total)

Tomorrow I will test if the problem exists in 117 because after upgrade I had no more reading of the values and no time so I came back in 115 while waiting.

-----
