Problem description
In an office, the deployment engineer cannot insert the SSN1PIU into the subrack, because a gap of several centimeters exists between the fixing pins in the middle of the subrack and the guide bushing in the middle of the board.

Handling procedure
In general, PIU boards are already inserted on the subrack in the default shipment. The engineer, however, reports that the subrack was delivered in October 2008 without PIU boards. The subracks of the OSN 3500 are classified into two types: high-power subracks and non-high-power subracks. The two types of subracks use different PIU boards.
The PIU boards of the OSN 3500 are also classified into two types: high-power SSN1PIUA coded 03020DHK and non-high-power SSN1PIU coded 03026564.
The high-power SSN1PIUA coded 03020DHK supports high-power backplanes and non-high-power backplanes, whereas the non-high-power SSN1PIU coded 03026564 supports only high-power backplanes. Measures are designed to prevent you from inserting a PIU board onto a mismatched backplane, that is, the two types of PIU boards use different guide bushings.
How to determine whether a subrack is a high-power subrack or a non-high-power subrack? If the version of the OSN 3500 backplane is C, the backplane is a high-power backplane and the subrack is a high-power subrack. If the version is A or B, the backplane is a non-high-power backplane and the subrack is a non-high-power subrack.

1. Check the bar code of the PIU board. The PIU board is the SSN1PIU.
2. Check the version label on the backplane. The backplane version is SSNJAFB VER C, indicating that the subrack is a high-power subrack. As the PIU board and the subrack do not match each other, the PIU board cannot be inserted into the subrack. Change the SSN1PIU board to the SSN1PIUA board. The SSN1PIUA board can be inserted into the subrack.
