Hi, TWH.
Redirection is a process in which the eNodeB sends an RRC Connection Release message to a UE and instructs the UE to access the target frequency or frequency group.
When the system is overloaded, load-based redirection is used to reduce the system load. During the release of a UE, the eNodeB sends the UE an RRCConnectionRelease message containing the target frequency for redirection so that the UE can reaccess the network on the target frequency.
After receiving an S1 interface fault indication, the eNodeB releases all UEs in all cells under the eNodeB. The RRC connection release message contains redirection information, which does not contain system information about neighboring cells.
In connected mode, if a UE cannot perform inter-cell handovers, redirection can be used.
The eNodeB sends the system information of the target cell for redirection (obtained using the RIM function) to the UE through the RRCConnectionRelease message. This function shortens the delay in accessing the target cell.
Thanks!
