Hello, everyone!

Today, I'd like to share a case with you.

Problem Description

On an ASON Optical Network, trying to create a new ASON Trail between Site A and Site B using at both sites TN17LSCT65 Boards, in Create ASON Trail menu at pre-calculate route step, the result failed reporting this following message: "Reason: The ports where services are added or dropped mismatch.Error Code:40598".

1

Site A

Subrack:       OSN 9800 UPS (Optical/Electrical and where was placed the LSC)

Sw Version:   V100R003C10SPC200 (5.51.12.17)

Site B

Subrack:       OSN 8800 T32 (Electrical)

Sw Version:   V100R009C10SPC300 (5.51.10.33)

U2000

Sw Version:   V200R016C60SPC201

Problem Analysis

For Site B, since V1R9 version does not support TN17LSC it should be created as TN15LSC. Meanwhile, at Site A the LSC was created as TN17LSC

After check carefully physically fiber connection and match with logically signal flow created at both sites, we tried to create a WDM Trail in traditional mode. It was created successfully and without alarms. Trying to Upgrade it to ASON Trail or Creating it as ASON Trail failed. So, we asked for help to GTAC for this abnormal issue.

HQ explained when a TN17LSC board is created/substituted by a TN15LSC board, the optical parameters reported to the ASON are incorrect. As a result, the ASON routing computation is abnormal.

HQ suggested to load the PATCH V100R003C10SPH220 to all new OSN 9800 in V1R3 version and including all the LSC boards even installed in different subracks such as that one installed in T32 for Site B case. It means, we must remove the LSC board from site B and take it to Site A and after placed in 9800 UPS, perform Patch Upgrade Task.

Root Cause

The reason for failing  to create ASON trail is that the optical module type that LSC board reported to ASON are different at Site A and Site B.

Only ASON OCH would verify the module type. And for ASON OCH,  the reported module type at source node and sink node must be the same.

It is a known issue of LSC board. It only happened when 17LSC board is created logically 15LSC And the issue has been resolved in OSN 8800 R11C00SPH210 and OSN 9800 R3C10SPH220 or later version.

This was the root cause sent by HQ.

Solution Description

Load patch V100R003C10SPH220 to OSN 9800 UPS at Site A including that LSC board from Site A and execute a Warm Reset either LSCs and SCC boards.

After take back the LSC board to Site B, and without execute a warm reset of T32 SCC boards as suggested HQ, we could create the ASON Trail successfully.
