 This post will tell you one issue for The OSN 3500 reports BUS-ERR.


Problem description

 The active EXCS for the OSN 3500 reports the BUS-ERR alarm. Then services are automatically switched to the standby EXCS and work normally. But the alarm persists BUS-ERR.


Handling procedure

BUS-ERR indicates the bus error alarm. The EXCS, GXCS, UXCS, and XCE report the alarm.


Alarm cause

Cross-connect chips are damaged.

The bus of the motherboard which from the line board to the XCS is broken

    

Root cause

NA.


Solution

1. Reset and insert/remove the board reporting the alarm. The alarm persists.

2. Replace the board reporting the alarm. Then the alarm disappears.

After that, services can be switched normally. It is the XCS failure.
