Hello, everyone!
Today, I'd like to share a case with you.
Product Model: SmartAX EA5800-X7
Problem Description
The user starts to configure a new MDU. Actually, the user is replacing the old MA5617A with the new MDU AX-EA5821.
Refer to the following steps.
1) Connect eight new MDUs to the same optical splitter connected to OLT port 0/4/5.
2) Two MDUs automatically go online and work normally. The remaining six MDUs are displayed on the OLT but do not go online.
3) When an MDU is manually added to the same port, the user receives the following notification, indicating that the bandwidth is insufficient.

Problem Analysis
1. Dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) for traffic shaping;
2. The assured bandwidth of all fixed ONUs (ONTs and MDUs) and DBA (including 5 Mbit/s ONUs used for OMCI) connected to a PON port cannot exceed the maximum theoretical bandwidth of the port.
3. The DBA should be bound with the T-CONT. The T-CONT can contain multiple GEM ports. One GEM port can be mapped to multiple VLANs. If multiple VLANs use the same DBA, the DBA bandwidth is shared by these VLANs.
4. The eSight cannot limit the rate of all services. To limit the rate of a VLAN, you are advised to bind a traffic profile to the service port to limit the rate of one VLAN.
Root Cause
Network configuration problem
Solution Description
When the DBA profile is 13 (fixed 500 Mbit/s) in the last test and modification, only two MDUs can be added to the same PON port if the line profile is used.
A user changes the DBA bandwidth to 400 Mbit/s, but the user still complains about jitters. Therefore, the bandwidth is changed to 500 Mbit/s.
If you think that common bandwidth DANTE can be used, you can change the T-cont 3dba-profile-id value to 10, which is the same as that of other services.
If the number of MDUs is changed to 10, the customer complains about jitter. Therefore, the design must be changed to that one PON port is connected to only two MDUs.
