Today, I'd like to share a case.
Problem Description
The NE was logged out on the U2000 and it was greyed out. The optix OSN 1500 has the version VI00R003C02B028SPC001. The alarm information that was displayed is NE_NOT_LOGIN and NE_COMM_BREAK.
Problem Analysis
Network involved using a vlan based inband DCN network.Despite the fact the port settings for DCN are enabled when service is being cascaded to the OSN the NE was still unmanageable on U2000.Thehandling process involved configuring the Vlan from a port connected to the U200 server.This created a VPN network which resulted in another port being configured with a default Vlan and the port cascaded to the ETH communication port of the OSN.This resulted in the OSN being virtually connected to the server.The default IP gateway of the OSN was changed from 0.0.0.0 to 129.9.0.1 when logged in physically on site. The OSN was changed into a gateway and became manageable on the U2000 and there was no need to log onto the OSN physically on site. A solution of trying to change the GNE which was managing this NE was not succesful and this led to the process of magaging this NE as GNE itself.
Root Cause
The OSN was no longer connected to the server for its management therefore a VPN service was configured using a vlan for the OSN to be managed.
Solution Description
The solution was work around procedure for a network using VLAN based ionband DCN for some NEs that are not manageable on the network.
