Hi Community!

This is the question we require answering, please.

I’m trying to refine how we set the cameras up. I’ve been playing with motion detection to see how well it works.

We have normal working hours in various places, Unit 19, for example, is 8-5 Monday to Thursday and 8-1 on a Friday.

We know the operatives will start before this time and may work past 5 (or 1) so we need a method of recording this that isn’t wasteful on disk space so motion detection would be a good fit.

Coupling this with a normally scheduled recording that fits the normal working hours would be great and I think we are more or less there with this.

The next improvement would be to ensure that the cameras don’t record when we definitely don’t need them too, mainly during the night when security guards walk past or I’ve actually seen them set of by a cat in the building.

This is where (from reading the Huawei documentation) protection zones come into the mix.

You can set a protection zone so that motion detection does not trigger alarms during specified times.

I just can’t add any cameras to the protection time.

Please, can you investigate?

Dear User.

According to your description, are you saying that the motion detection time you set didn't meet your expectations?

Perform the following steps to check the configuration:

1. Check whether the motion detection time is correctly set and whether there are recordings in the search time segment.

2. Check whether the system time is consistent with the device time. (especially the time zone)

3. Check the NTP settings.

Thanks a lot.
I checked the time configuration. You were right.
The time should have been set up the other way around
I changed the logic of the time interval the over way around not from 23:00-06:00 but from 6:00 to 23:00
