The MA5680T device support EPON and GPON board intermixing

Huawei OLT MA5680T supports the smooth introduction of GPON boards into EPON devices, implementing the intermixing of EPON and GPON boards in the same subrack.

The introduction of the GPON board does not affect the EPON OLT on the live network. All the boards, such as the control board, upstream board, and backplane, do not need to be replaced. The backplane slot of Huawei OLT is 40 Gbit/s. Currently, Huawei OLT supports the hybrid application of GPON and EPON, and will also support the hybrid application of 10G EPON and 10G GPON in the future. When the Huawei OLT works in the hybrid application of EPON and GPON, only one GPON board needs to be added. The system does not have special requirements on the slots for the EPON and GPON boards. The PON boards of any type can be installed in any service slot of the subrack.

The ETSI subrack of the MA5680T has 16 service slots, such as slots 1 to 8 and slots 11 to 18. The EPON and GPON boards can be inserted in any of the 16 slots. In practice, considering the convenience of maintenance and management, it is recommended that EPON and GPON boards be placed in a centralized manner,
