Hello, everyone!
Today I will share with you the key technology of burst photoelectric technology.
The upstream direction of GPON adopts time-division multiplexing. Each ONU must send data in the permitted time slot, and the transmission signal of the optical module must be turned off for the time slot that does not belong to itself, so as not to affect the normal operation of other ONUs. For the upstream reception of the OLT side, the upstream data of each ONU must be received in bursts according to the time slot. Therefore, in order to ensure the normal operation of the GPON system, the optical module on the ONU side must support the burst transmission function, the optical module on the OLT side must support the burst receiving function.

Schematic diagram of the burst sending function
Ranging ensures that the cells sent by different ONUs do not conflict with each other at the OLT, but the ranging accuracy is limited, generally plus or minus 1 bit, and there will be a few bits of guard time between cells sent by different ONUs (but not an integer multiple of bits) ), if the optical module on the ONU side does not have the burst transmission function, the transmitted signal will be superimposed and the signal will be distorted.
