THE FIRST HUAWEI WATCH WITH THE LATEST HARMONYOS WILL LAUNCH SOON

Back in September, Huawei unveiled its Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro smartwatch with a new design and support for wireless charging. On December 12, a new version of the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro with an electrocardiogram function will go on sale in China.

According to Chinese sources, the Chinese tech giant is preparing a new smartwatch; which was originally planned for release this year, but is now expected to launch in 2021.

The source did not reveal the characteristics of the new watch; however, the watch will differ markedly from the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro.

At a developer conference this fall, Huawei announced the release of the HarmonyOS 2.0 SDK for IoT devices; including smartwatches, and developers began developing apps for the HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system.

The source has no doubts that the next Huawei smartwatch will run the new HarmonyOS operating system and will initially appear in China.

HUAWEI WILL RELEASE HARMONY OS 2.0 BETA FOR THE MATE 40 ON THIS DATE

Huawei has scheduled an event to release the first beta version of Harmony OS for smartphones. We will remind, earlier it was confirmed that the first beta of its own software will be available for the Mate 40, and Huawei’s representatives will tell more about it directly to the developers on December 16.

In particular, they will learn about the design philosophy of Harmony OS 2.0, get complete information about the application structure for the new system and the tools of DevEco Studio 2.0, and also get the opportunity to chat with the developers of the system and technical experts from Huawei. Then the release of the corresponding firmware will take place. It’s unclear if Harmony OS will get an international version, with some rumors suggesting the P50 will arrive next March with Android 11.

HUAWEI AND HONOR WILL OCCUPY 4% AND 2% OF THE SMARTPHONE MARKET NEXT YEAR

A new forecast by research firm TrendForce says that independent company Honor, which no longer has anything to do with Huawei, will only be able to occupy 2% of the global smartphone market next year.

Of course, the sale of Honor will hit Huawei very hard, which is barely afloat under the pressure of US sanctions and their aftermath. If this year analysts give the company only 14% of the global smartphone market; then next year, according to the forecast, the company’s share will drop to 4%. With such results, the company will have to fight for a place in the top ten leaders; since they will definitely not be able to get into the top five.

US sanctions imposed on Huawei are limiting the company’s ability to procure required components; affecting Huawei’s ability to manufacture and market new smartphones. The sanctions were the main reason behind Huawei’s decision to sell its Honor brand.

Another Chinese company Xiaomi, according to the forecast, will significantly strengthen its position next year. TrendForce analysts make a modest forecast for Xiaomi’s share to increase from 12% to 14%. However, Xiaomi itself is much more optimistic and intends to sell from 240 to 300 million smartphones. The company wants to get ahead of Apple and possibly compete for the top spot with Samsung.
