Hi team,

After a LUN is mapped to two application servers, the files on one server are invisible to the other server. Why does this happen? Thanks.

Dear Phany,

If multiple application servers do not simultaneously execute write operations on the same file, a LUN can be mapped to multiple application servers. After a LUN is mapped to application servers A and B, if the files in the LUN on server A are invisible to server B, the possible cause is that the LUN is not re-scanned. To resolve the problem, re-scan the LUN or restart server B.

Generally, it is not recommended that a LUN be mapped to multiple application servers. The reason is that file data may become inconsistent when multiple application servers simultaneously execute write operations on the same file.

Hope this can help you.

Try disabling caching for the folder which contains the "vanishing" files.

1. RDP to the file server
2. Navigate the root of the share
3. Right click on the folder
4. Select Properties
5. Then Sharing Tab
6. Click Advanced Sharing
7. Click the Caching button
8. Select "No files or programs from the shared folder are available offline".
