Hello,
Today I would like to share with you the failure of the N4EGS4 board causes the port to receive packets normally, but there is no packet transmission failure.
Problem Description
1. The OSN3500 device host version and the OSN7500 device host version are the same.
2. Dual-fiber bidirectional multiplex section protection ring networking: A—B—C—D—E—F—one-dry ASON—H network element, A for OSN3500, B, C, D, and E network elements for OSN7500 to form dual Fiber bidirectional multiplex section protects the environment, 1+1 linear multiplex section (STM-16) composed of E and F, F is DXC equipment, A network element is connected to the service side router, and business is 1+1 linear multiplexing composed of AB The segment (STM-16) goes up through B-C-D-E through the DXC equipment F network element and a trunk ASON network cross-province landed in H local network.
3. The N4EGS4 boards in slot 14 and slot 5 of A network element each open a 400M service to the H local network. On a certain day, the service from slot 5 to H is normal, and the service from slot 14 to H is interrupted, and the port receiving packets is normal. No packet is sent, no warning.
Process
1. H local network element H performs a physical hard loopback to end A, and the port of the EGS4 single board port of slot 14 of the A network element receives packets normally, no packets are sent, and there is no alarm;
2. Suspect the provincial trunk line to the local failure, from the 8-slot SLQ16-2 port of the F network element of the DXC equipment (connected to a dry ASON network element) to the business side to do optical port internal loopback and VC4 internal loopback, 14 slot The EGS4 board port port receives packets normally, no packets are sent, and there is no alarm;
3. The initial judgment is that the local network in the province is faulty. Connect the Ethernet tester to the router port on the business side of the A network element, and do the VC4 external loopback from the B network element 8 slot SLQ16-2 to the business side, EGS4 single board port port The packet is received normally, no packet is sent, and there is no alarm;
4. Configure one-way time slot crossover for EGS4 in slot 14 (to eliminate the optical board and crossover faults of this site), the EGS4 single board port port receives packets normally, no packets are sent, and there is no alarm;
5. It is judged that the port of the EGS4 board in slot 14 is faulty, and the service is changed to the 2 port of the EGS4 board in slot 14, and the packet reception of the EGS4 board in slot 14 on the 2 port port is normal, no packets are sent, and there is no alarm;
6. Since the board in slot 14 has no other services, after resetting the board in slot 14, the port of the board receives packets normally, no packets are sent, and there is no alarm;
7. Locate the hardware failure of the EGS4 board in slot 14 and change the service to port 2 of the EGS4 board in slot 5. The EGS4 board port is normal for receiving and sending packets. The test service on the business side returned to normal.
8. The troubleshooting is complete. The cause is the hardware failure of the EGS4 board.
Root cause
Caused by hardware failure of the EGS4 board.
Solution
Replace the EGS4 board of the same model.
Conclusions
The hardware failure of the EGS4 board caused the port to send too few packets. It is recommended to reset the board directly when the board port receives packets normally and no packets are sent.
