In this document, you can see the main differences between eAN3810 AirNode and eAN9810 AirEdge.
The eLTE-U solution includes two base stations, one called the AirNode eAN3810A and the other called the AirEdge eAN9810A.
You
may know the main difference, but there are still many aspects to consider when
designing a real project. You may not be able to make the right choice.
First let’s talk about the difference about the networking. eAN3810A must work
with the core network, and eAN9810A can work independently without the core
network.
Why eAN9810A is introduced?
The reason of introducing eAN9810A is not to allow everyone to easily sell one or two base stations, this value is low. Our main target market is the safe city wireless video surveillance scene, like the microwave solution. Microwave solution features a simple network (only the base station and terminal), a single service (data backhaul), the maintenance workload is also small. eAN9810A is just designed for these features, in addition, eLTE-U has a killer highlights, anti-interference ability, suitable for safe city video surveillance with a large network can solve the internal and external interference, also to solve the problem of wireless transmission quality under non-line-of-sight conditions in urban environment.

Finally, let’s talk about the selection principles: eA9810A is selected in priority in safe city video surveillance scene to compete directly with the microwave solution, other scenes give priority to selling eAN3810A. eAN3810A stands for the high-end market, which can provide a more complete services, in order to isolate the products of these two markets, eAN9810A took a different name AirEdge, so it is presented in different hardware to the customers. Let me give an example to illustrate our strategy. Microwave products are lightweight solutions in some markets, equivalent to someone without shoes.
Our eAN3810A is a high-end person with good footwear. In some scenarios (for example, Safe City Video Surveillance), Microwave says that I can run faster than you with bare feet, eAN3810A says, in fact, I can take off my shoes too (eAN9810A), run faster than you, then microwave is frustrated However, in some scenarios, we take off shoes, will hurt the foot (service capability is limited, profitability is low, destruction of high-end market business). Therefore, we take off when we have too. If you can only take off your eyes at the beginning but have to wear shoes eventually, do not take off your shoes for ever (for example, if you are going to deploy the eAN3810A in the end for the whole network, do not use the eAN9810A to test for the trial).
