Hi there!

This time, I will share with you a case about the CHAN_ADD alarm generated during network expansion.

Problem Description

During a network expansion, the OMCA board of the OptiX OSN 6800 reports the CHAN_ADD alarm.

Fault analysis

The possible cause of the alarm is that after one or more wavelengths are added to the WDM system, the corresponding OMCA optical port is set. As a result, the wavelength monitoring configuration is incorrect and the accessed wavelength is not set as the monitoring wavelength. Therefore, the board reported the alarm.

Handling process

To set wavelength monitoring for the OMCA board, open the NE Explorer and choose OMCA > Configuration > WDM Interface > By board. Then, set the wavelength monitoring status of the port to be set to Monitor.

OMCA

Select Laser spectrum analysis and click Refresh. The newly added wavelength is displayed.
