Hi,

In typical scenario of access switches, all end-users and Poe devices like IP phones and wifi access points are terminated on it. These are used to provide 1G copper connectivity.
aggregation switches are used when there are multiple links that are to be linked to core switch. so aggregation switches are introduced in between to reduce multiple links going on to core switches directly. It gives mainly to benefits:
1. Fibre cost of multiple links is reduced as only one on maximum two links are going from aggravation switches to core switches.
2. You don't need multiple ports on core switch which are very costly.
3. In 3 tier network model management of network becomes very easy.

i think you didn't get the point as am asking what advantage and disadvantages of making the access layer act the gateway for terminal , AP , Phones , end devices and also for the aggregation layer to be the gateway ?

Okay, got it. There is a mixup for terminologies.
Gateway is generally used to connect to outside world. And it is a layer-3 device (or at least provides layer -3 connectivity on uplink ports). In this case, if you directly connect access point or other peripherals on it, there is no problem as it is generally a scenario is small branch offices where only a single device is being used to connect for routing, switching and security.
But it has a major disadvantage that if the gateway goes down, whole site is down. If there is at least another access switch, branch network will be up and users within that branch will be able to communicate.

I hope I got your question, but if there is any confusion, please let me know and I'll try to explain

my question in large scale enterprise what advantage and disadvantage if you try to set the access layer as the gateway for the terminals and end devices and also for setting the gateway on the aggregation ? if you donot mind i need a table with advantage and disadvantage between access and aggregation layer to be more clear
