Problem Description

The networking is simplified as follows:

In country A, the entire VC system and some TE30 terminals are deployed. In addition, the TE30 is deployed in country B, and the network between the two countries is a VPN channel.

The problem occurs when a user schedules a conference on the SMC and calls the TE30 in country A and country B to join the conference. The common video is not clear enough, and artifacts occur when the user moves.

Handling Procedure

The web call status page shows that packet loss occurs during the call, the packet loss rate being unstable. To facilitate fault location, change the call to a point-to-point call between two TE30s. The diagnostic stays the same. Perform the following operations:

1. when the 384K call is used, the packet loss rate is low, and no packet loss or 1% occurs;

2. the bandwidth is increased to 512 kbit/s, the packet loss rate is still low and the basic bandwidth is lower than 3%;

3. the bandwidth increases to 1 Mbit/s to 2 Mbit/s. The two bandwidths are basically the same. The packet loss rate remains below 5% when the picture is still motionless and the packet loss rate greatly fluctuates during the motion, up to 30%;

4. the bandwidth increases to 4 Mbit/s, which is the same as 1 Mbit/s and 2 Mbit/s.

According to the preceding four steps, the following conclusions can be drawn:

1. the network is unstable and packet loss occurs;

2. when the stream rate is stable, the packet loss rate on the network is stable. When the stream rate fluctuates greatly, the packet loss rate increases sharply.

Therefore, the solution to the problem is to m
ake sure that the rate of the code stream sent by us is as smooth as possible. To solve the problem, perform the following steps:

1. upgrade the MCU to VP9660 V500R002C00SPCf00;

2. upgrade all TE endpoints to TEX0 V500R002C00SPCb00;

3. set the unlimited Bandwidth to 0 (disable) and press enter to set the other parameters. Click Save to save the configuration.

4. The TE endpoint configuration is as follows: log in to the telnet/ssh and enter mc rtpflowctrlswitch set 1.

Root Cause

1. The network is unstable and packet loss occurs.

 2. When the stream rate is stable, the packet loss rate on the network is stable. When the stream rate greatly fluctuates, the packet loss rate increases sharply.
