Objective

To test SAS   expansion cable faults

Network Diagram

Prerequisites

1.    An OceanStor 2800 V5&5300 V5&5500 V5&5600   V5&5800 V5&6800 V5&18500 V5&18800 V5&5300F V5&5500F   V5&5600F V5&5800F V5&6800F V5&18500F V5&18800F V5 storage   system is running properly and can communicate with a management terminal.

2.    Disk enclosure DAE010   has been connected to the system through two SAS links.

3.    You have logged in to the storage system as a super   administrator through DeviceManager.

4.    Disk domain Diskdomain001,   storage pool Storagepool001, and   LUNs LUN001 and LUN002 have been created in the   storage system.

5.    You have created mapping view MappingViewXX, and   added host group HostGroupXX (containing host HostXX with an initiator) and LUN group LUNGroupXX (containing LUN001 and LUN002) into the mapping view.

6.    LUNs have been scanned for on the server and read and write   operations are continuously performed on LUNs using an I/O R/W tool.

Procedure

1.    Remove one SAS cable between the controller enclosure and   disk enclosure DAE010.

2.    Choose Monitor   > Alarms and Events. Check   whether alarms are generated, indicating that an SAS expansion port is   disconnected and that a disk enclosure is in single-link mode. In the System window, check the multipathing   information about disks in disk enclosure DAE010.

3.    On the server, check whether LUN I/O reads and writes are   interrupted.

4.    After three minutes, reinsert the removed SAS cable.

5.    Choose Monitor   > Alarms and Events. Check   whether alarms indicating that an SAS expansion port is disconnected and that   a disk enclosure is in single-link mode are cleared. In the System window, check the multipathing   information about disks in disk enclosure DAE010.

6.    On the server, check LUN read/write status.

Expected Result

1.    In step 2, the alarms are generated. The Multipath field of disks in disk   enclosure DAE010 has only one   value.

2.    In step 3, LUNs can be read and written normally without   I/O interruption.

3.    In step 5, the alarms are cleared. The Multipath field of disks in disk enclosure DAE010 has two values.

4.    In step 6, LUNs can be read and written normally without   I/O interruption.

Remarks

None

the alarms are cleared. The Multipath field of disks in disk enclosure DAE010 has two values.
