Hello, everyone.
Here, I'd like to share the scenario of switching between the synchronous mode and the asynchronous mode.
Asynchronous mode and synchronous mode apply to specific scenarios. In certain special scenarios, users anticipate online switchover between asynchronous mode and synchronous mode as well as incremental synchronization after switchover. Switchover between asynchronous mode and synchronous mode mainly applies to the following scenarios:
Switchover from synchronous mode to asynchronous mode for reducing impact on host performance:
Sharp increase in workloads on the primary storage system in a short duration of time (such as on holidays)
Underestimated bandwidth during the initial construction, resulting in high host latency
Unstable network bandwidth
Unstable link, overload and performance deterioration on the secondary storage system
Switchover from asynchronous mode to synchronous mode for optimizing RPO:
Switching asynchronous mode back to synchronous mode after a fault is rectified or services have resumed normal operation
Requiring optimized RPO after service adjustment, or switching to synchronous mode after network upgrade
OceanStor Dorado 6.1.0 supports this function. You can set automatic switchover conditions or manually perform switchover.
