Hello, everyone!

Do you know how to solve the SUSE Linux VM NTP time is not sync, VM local back to local machine time? Don't worry, the post will share with you!

Problem Description

The customer feedback that the time is not correct and they have chosen the correct timezone.

Problem Analysis

Check the details find the customer uses the sore switch as the NTP server and the NTP server time is correct. As for the problem, VMs have a wrong time with a correct TimeZone but with an error time.

When I check the time zone with the command yast find the customer has enabled the option "Hardware lock set to UTC", this is mean the VM will sync time for some time to the physical host on which the VMs running on. And the customer environment has set the NTP server so need to cancel it.

Root Cause

The Hardware Clock set option needs cancel, if not it means the VM has two NTP servers.

Solution Description

1. Make sure the fusion compute and fusionAccsess are synced with the NTP server.

2. Using Yast to set up an NTP server.
3. Unmark Hardware clock set to UTC

4. Restart the NTP service. The environment is working fine. 174247mvvnvv2arrppmydr.png?compute.png
