Hello, everyone!
This post will share with you the storage hot migration definition, restrictions, and application scenarios.
Definition:
When the virtual machine is running normally, the administrator can manually migrate the virtual machine's disks to other storage units. Storage hot migration can be migrated between the same storage device under storage virtualization management and between different storage devices. Hot migration enables customers to dynamically adjust virtual machine storage resources in the event of a loss of business to implement operations such as device maintenance.
A: The virtual disk is used: the virtual disk just has a VM to mount it, and it is running, or the virtual disk that has been mounted to the running VM is migrated from one data store to another. Business is not interrupted.
limitation factor:
1. It is not supported to migrate mounted "shared" type disks and linked clone virtual machine disks.
2. Non-persistent disks and migration of iCache-enabled virtual machine disks are not supported. It is recommended to migrate the virtual machine after it is turned off, if possible.
3. The migration of the destination data storage or source data storage to FusionStorage is not supported. It is recommended to migrate the virtual machine after it is turned off, if possible.
Application scenario:
Planned storage maintenance and storage migration without disrupting business.
That's all, thanks!
