Hi guys,

I'm trying to configure a static ip host on a AR169FGW, from the official information all that I need to do is "ip host <hostname> <ip>"

This is my current configuration:

ip host test.com 10.0.30.17
#

dns server 10.0.30.1
dns server 1.1.1.1
#

ip pool TEST
gateway-list 10.0.30.1
network 10.0.30.0 mask 255.255.255.0
dns-list 10.0.30.1 1.1.1.1

#

interface Vlanif30
ip address 10.0.30.1 255.255.255.0
dhcp select global

On the router CLI when I ping the hostname all seems ok:
<ROUTER>ping -a 10.0.30.1 test.com
PING test.com (10.0.30.17): 56  data bytes, press CTRL_C to break
   Reply from 10.0.30.17: bytes=56 Sequence=1 ttl=128 time=5 ms

But when I do it on a PC client it always tries to go outside:

C:\Users\user1>ping test.com
Pinging test.com [69.172.200.235] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.

Can you help me?

since you didn't enable the dns proxy, when the router recevies the dns query, it will forward the query to the dns server rather than search the cache,

Thanks for your tip, I've just enabled dns proxy on the router and did some tests,

server 10.0.30.1
Default Server: [10.0.30.1]
Address: 10.0.30.1

test.com
Server: [10.0.30.1]
Address: 10.0.30.1
DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.

Name: test.com
Address: 10.0.30.17
exit

C:\Users\user1>ping test.com
Pinging test.com [69.172.200.235] with 32 bytes of data:

Has you can see when I do nslookup and set the server to 10.0.30.1 it can resolve the internal IP, but ping still goes outside, I did a DNS flush and reboot the PC, and still the same behaviour.
Is it normal? should I reboot the router?

NAT Loopback resolves the problem.

nat static global interface WAN inside 10.0.30.17 netmask 255.255.255.255
