Hi,

Does anyone keep track of a list of mobile phones STAs settings that can be used in the STA identification?

I've enabled the preset profiles, and created some profiles based on user agent, but I don't have the DHCP options of various handsets nor the mac address.

At the minimal, do we have a list for all huawei's devices?

Hi @louischua
if you mean the corresponding entries between the STA and its identification parameters, I don't know if there are guys could share that information with you.

About the MAC and user agent spoofing, it's hard to avoid such thing. Maybe you can try the using the DHCP option, but actually, even though you choose the DHCP option to identify the device, there is possibility to forge the DHCP packet.

In my previous company, we subscribed to a list. Today, I'm scraping user agents from my users.
Yes, mac, user agent and DHCP all can be spoof. Just wondering if there are some other ways that I'm not familiar with. Thanks!

Thanks! I've done that already. My original question was about having a list of STA profiles to identify the STA. For example, to identify iphone, I will set the rule user agent to sub-match iphone, dhcp option 12, for samsung galaxy S9, I will set rule user agent sub-match Android and N960. Does anyone have a list of STA profiles? I can share what I have created so far.
My 2nd question is on the recommended method to identify devices because both mac address and user agent can spoof now.

@louischua hello,
do you mean the list of MAC address format which represent for different vendors, and the DHCP options lists?

Or you mean you want to assign the MAC address and/or DHCP option for some specific vendors manually, so that the STA identification function could identify these corresponding STAs as the manually set vendors?

Yes, I want to assign the user agent, DHCP options and mac address for specific vendors so that the STA identification function can identify the corresponding STA. We noticed a significant uptick in user complaints on auto-disconnection for Redmi and iphone6. But this is based on individual feedback, so we want to track and see if this is a real issue.
Also, with Android 10, mac address randomization becomes an available feature on phones. What would be the recommended method to identify individual devices now? We want to make sure the username and password we issued are only used for specific pre-approved devices without concurrent usage for security purposes.
