Hi there!

This time, I will share with you about SNCP 1+1 Unidirectional and Bidirectional network scenario.

Below is the network scenario to implement either Unidirectional or Bidirectional:

1. Line protection.

> Only can be set to Unidirecional because of no APS available.

> Set to non-revertive because of the bridge are equal. This is also to avoid power "glitch"

2. Channel protection. Protecting the client SDH/SONET.

> Set to Unidirectional. The channel protection path is 100% dedicated to the protection path.

> You can set either non-revertive or auto-revertive.

3. Channel protection. Protecting the client ETH.

> Set to Bidirectional. This to make the upstream and downstream running in same latency.

> You can set either non-revertive or auto-revertive.

4. Channel protection over protection.

> Set the OCP hold-off time to 1000ms.

> You can set either non-revertive or auto-revertive.

5. Channel protection. Protecting the client SAN

> Set to Bidirectional. This to make the upstream and downstream running in same latency.

> You can set either non-revertive or auto-revertive.

6. ASON protection.

> The ASON is come with the Bidirectional and auto-revertive. The channel protection can be reused.

7. 1:1 or 1:N SNCP.

> Set to Bidirectional and auto-revertive. This is to allow the bandwidth protection to be reused.

That's all, I welcome everyone to leave a message and exchange in the comment area!

Thank you!

For the channel protection over protection, why do we need to set the OCP hold off time to 1000ms?

It is because to avoid the "1st layer" protection and "2nd layer" protection execute in a same time. We set the hold-off time at the "1st layer" protection to allow the "2nd layer" protection executing switching first.

Can you explain 'APS' in the 1. Line Protect part?

Posted by CZQCHAI at 2019-06-13 07:32 Can you explain 'APS' in the 1. Line Protect part?
APS is carried over the first three bytes of the APS/PCC field of the ODUk overhead. Please note that there are 4 bytes. The fourth byte of the APS/PCC field is reserved. Eight independent APS channels are available to support protection at the ODUkP, the six ODUkT (TCM) levels and one level of ODUk SNC/I protection.

Hi Asrul,

Thanks for the feedback.
My last enquiry.

How about the Channel Protection with the client SDH/SONET and ETH?
What is the best setup?

The channel protection that protecting the SDH/SONET but the SDH/SONET running the service of Ethernet and E1, why we can set to Unidirectional is because the ETH was converted to the STMn. The STMn don't have a latency. Due to no latency, in WDM we can set to Unidirectional
