SMC Service Fails to Restart

This topic describes how to deal with the problem that SMC service fails to restart.

Symptom

One or multiple SMC services fail to restart, and the error message "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." is displayed

Possible Causes

The service fails to load the Nlog.config configuration file and start because it was modified incorrectly.

Troubleshooting Procedure

1. Use a text editor to open the NLogErr.log file, which is stored in the D:\Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd\SMC 2.0\Bin path by default.
   

2. Check the NLogErr.log file for the log entry that indicates a failure to load the Nlog.config file.

   

3. Replace the current Nlog.config file with the Nlog.config file (default directory: SmcInstall\SMC 2.0\Bin) in the SMC software installation package.
   

4. Restart the SMC service.
