HiCoins as reward: 0 (problem unresolved)

TYPO IN THE TOPIC TITLE, IT IS  RH2288H V3

My RH2288Hv3 is the variant with 12 LFF so I might consider it a storage server since that is what it will become, but regardless of if I choose Storage or Server category in SmartKit It will not connect.

Now, the server is not fully operational yet, it lacks one CPU, standard NIC cards, and some RAM, but I can connect to it with no problems via iBMC on that dedicated port. I have reviewed the server manual for potential connectivity issues, but I can't really find anything that might prevent SmartKit to connect via the same network port.

I have checked that the services for SSH and SNMP and all that list is active, so when I select "Server" option in SmartKit I double check relevant services and ports and they are all there.

After installing SmartKit I have also downloaded several addons and patches to SmartKir, including packages for Rack Servers, Intelligence Servers and more. I may still lack something, but it is not easy to know exaclty what is relevant for my RH2288Hv3.

In any case I think the most obvious question would be if SmartKit can connect to the server via the iBMC Management port?

Hello, dear.

Of course, you can add the server via the iBMC.

You can click iBMC and Add to add the server

add server

Dear devconram,

Make sure your product is RH3388Hv3 or RH2288Hv3, I can't find 3388 on Huawei support site. What's your version of SmartKit? Please check whether it is the newest? Once you install the Smartkit in any system, you can then add storage or server by adding IP addresses of corresponding products. Maybe reinstalling the Smartkit can help. Thank you.

That is exactly what I tried to do, Stephen and LittleFish. Did not work.

iBMC Firmware Version: 3.12 (U25)
BIOS Firmware Version: 5.03 (U47)

Can you show the error message? It is better if you provide the screenshot with the error message.

No, I am sorry but my network is not open nor are any remote services available.

That is the reason.
Thank you for support
@stephen.xu

Please elaborate, I stated that my network is closed off for remote services, like RDP or MS Assistance or similar other remote logins. Not so for downloads of patches or updates. Smartkit should not need access to remote services to connect a local server on a local network.

The Smartkit tool is not needed to use the RDP serivces.
It uses the SSH(port 22) to log in to implemented functions, you can understand that the Smartkit use the iBMC CLI to enable the functions.

Could it be as simple as me not having installed an OS on the server yet?

Yes, you can use it on the server with no OS.
Just make the host has OS.
Well, still no luck, But I installed a Windows OS on it and was impressed by the IBMC data transfer rate for the installation via Console and ISO. Just need an additional network item to start getting updates and drivers and such. Will istall SmartKit on the server as well.

I do not know if that is recommended, bU I assume that will let me make sure all my drivers and firmwares are up to date.

Yes, you are right.
It is better to update the firmware before installing the Smartkit.
