Smart Logger 1000 has 3 communication ports for the RS485 communication method:
Often, one communication port is occupied by the Smart PV Inverters, the other one by a Power Meter and perhaps we are in the situation when only one communication port is available.
If we want to connect many EMI devices (Eg. pyranometers) and only one RS485 communication port is available is important to know that we can connect all these devices on the same COM Port. A maximum of 5 devices can be connect through this method.
Find below all the conditions that should be accomplished in order to succeed with this operation:
Step 1
Be sure that all devices have different addresses - usually, EMI comes by default with '1' as address. In order to connect many devices on the same communication port, this address should be different for all devices. Otherwise we would face a conflict address. If you are in the purchasing step please tell the EMI's provider that you need different addresses for all these devices. If you have already purchased these devices, contact their provider and ask about the address change tool;
Step 2
Be sure that all devices have the same baud rate - usually, baud rate for EMI devices is 19200;
Step 3
Be sure that your Smart Logger 1000 has a firmware version newer or equal to SPC115 - if your firmware version is older than SPC115, please contact eu_inverter_support@huawei.com. We will help you immediately to upgrade your device;
Step 4
Connect all the pyranometers in the daisy chain with the RS485 communication;
Step 5
Add all these devices through WEB-Ui (Smart Logger Interface).
