We noticed SF switch from work to protection path on the OCh 4, but we can find any alarms that’s trigger

the SF switch. There was some increased attenuation of 2dB on one fiber and 1dB on the other on the section  which is working path

for this OCh, but the function Power difference is disabled on those OLP cards and should not trigger SF switch. According to the documentation SF switch is triggered by R....LOS alarm which I can’t find in the history list.

Is there any explination?

Thanks,

Dear friend!

1. Please confirm your protection type first(Optical Line Protection, Client 1+1 Protection, Intra-Board 1+1 Protection). Take Intra-Board 1+1 Protection as an example, when the OLP board does not report the R_LOS alarm, the equipment also performs SF switching if other boards (including all boards between two OLP boards) in the protection section report the R_LOS alarm.

2. In addition, upload the configuration of the device and check whether the configuration is changed or manual forced switching is set.

3. As mentioned by Malik3000, if the transient interruption of the line recovers within a short period of time, the OLP board performs SF switching even if no alarm is reported on each board.

Thank you!

Hello ,

the loss in the optical power in the 2 ends means that there have happened episodic hit for the optical cable or fast loss in the laser .
the OLP depends on the actual optical power value to make the protection switch , regardless of whether the alarm appeared or not .

the reason of why the alarm didn't appear is related of NE or Management .
