When fail to install SQL database or need uninstall SQL database, according to the normal uninstallation mode often difficult to uninstall SQL database clean, especially in the cluster environment. Do not uninstall SQL clean will lead to unable to install normally when the install SQL next time.
According to the following method to uninstall database correctly:
a. before uninstall Microsoft SQL Server 2000, need to stop the database Server and quit the database service manager.
b. Click "start > control panel", pop-up "control panel" window.
c. Double-click “add or delete program ", pop-up "add or delete program" window.
d. Select the "Microsoft SQL Server 2000", and click "modify/delete".
e. Click "yes", appear uninstall progress bar, waiting.
f. According to the prompt information, finish residual operation.
g. Delete "MSSQL2000" folder under database installation directory.
h. Delete "Microsoft SQL Server" folder under "Program files" folder of the operating system installation directory.
i. Delete the "MSDesigners7" and "MSDesigners98" folder under "Program Files \ Common Files \ Microsoft Shared" directory of the operating system installation directory.
j. Delete the following registry information:
1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\SQLServer 2000
4. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSSQLServer
5. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SQLSERVERAGENT
6. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSSQLServerADH
2. Finish the above operation, restart the operating system.
3. Make sure that the registry does not exist key assignments "PendingFileRenameOperations".
4. Reinstall the database.
