Today we talk about Scale-Up and Scale-Out. Scale-Up is a traditional vertical expansion architecture. It continuously adds storage devices to the existing storage systems to cope with ever-increasing data volumes. Scale-Out is a horizontal expansion architecture. It adds more controllers to meet the requirements of data growth in the unit of nodes.
