Hello Community,

I am new to Huawei Wireless.

I have a project using S7700 with Built-in wireless functionality.  There will be 28APs (AirEngine6760-X1)

I have a couple of questions.

    1.  The S7700 will function as the core switch.  In my understanding, the management IP address of the core

switch is the same as the management IP of the wireless controller.

    2.  There will be 2 SSIDs (employee/guest).  Employee SSID will have 802.1x authentication.  Guest SSID will

have WPA2-WPA3 hybrid authentication.  Do I have to create a separate profiles for each SSID or just use

         the default profiles?

    3.  Can I just assign 1 service vlan for each SSID?

    4.  Regarding data rates (2G/5G), to my understanding, it is advisable to disable the lower data rates. In 2G,

disable 1-11 Mbps and in 5G (disable 6/9 Mbps). If I disable the lower data rates, do I also have to

reconfigure the basic data rates and beacon rates?

Thanks

Lito

3.I don't see such restrictions, can you share the link you saw? It is preferable to use a VLAN pool. Otherwise, you can only use a large mask in a service VLAN.
4. The rates specified in the basic rate set must be supported by both the AP and STA; otherwise, the STA cannot associate with the AP. For example, if you configure the basic rate set to contain rates 6 Mbps and 9 Mbps and deliver the configuration to an AP, only STAs supporting the two rates can associate with the AP. The AP and STA select a rate from the basic rate set or the supported rate set to transmit packets.

After you run this command to configure a basic rate set in a radio profile, bind the radio profile to an AP or AP group. If a STA associates with the AP in 802.11bg mode, the STA must support all rates specified by the basic rate set; otherwise, the STA cannot associate with the AP.

You can set the device to supports all basic rates.

For the beacon rate, to reduce wireless resource occupation of management frames and improve channel usage efficiency, you can set a large transmit rate for management frames.

Hi,

1. They are some.

2. You should use the different  SSID profiles for different SSIDs.

3. It's ok. But the IPs that can be allocated under a VLAN may not be enough for your needs.

4. If you disable the lower data rates, it is necessary to reconfigure the beacon rate. By default, the transmit rate of 2.4 GHz management frames is 1 Mbit/s, and the transmit rate of 5 GHz management frames is 6 Mbit/s.

Hi,

3. The wireless VLAN subnet (Employee& Guest) is /24. I am thinking of making a service VLAN pool
but I read that is using 802.1x authentication, it is not recommended to use a service VLAN pool.
Please advise the recommended configuration.
4. If I set the minimum rates for: 2.4G - 12 Mbps & 5G - 12Mbps, I have to set the basic data rates to
12 Mbps and beacon rates to 12 Mbps for both 2.4G/5G?

Thanks
