Hello,

I have a Huawei S5720-SI switch that mistakenly deleted all files from the switch and it does not start anymore. However, we lost the boot BootRom password. What can we do?

Thanks.

Hello,

There is currently no method to recover the BootRom password. It is recommended that you contact TAC or a channel engineer, and a dedicated maintenance person will deal with your problem.

Hope to help you!

To change the BootROM password on the BootROM menu, you must connect to the console port of the switch and log in to the switch through the console port.

1. In any view, restore the default BootROM password.
<HUAWEI> reset boot password
The password used to enter the boot menu by clicking Ctrl+B will be restored to the default password, continue? [Y/N]y
Info: Succeeded in setting password of boot to "Admin@huawei.com".

Note:
The reset boot password command is supported on switches running V200R001 and later versions, and the default password for these switches is Admin@huawei.com. Switches running V100R006 and earlier versions do not support the reset boot password command, and the default password for these switches is 9300.

The default password is vulnerable to attacks and needs to be changed.
2. Restart the switch.
<HUAWEI> reboot
Warning: The configuration has been modified, and it will be saved to the next startup saved-configuration file cfcard:/vrpcfg.zip. Continue? [Y/N]:y
Info: If want to reboot with saving diagnostic information, input 'N' and then execute 'reboot save diagnostic-information'.
System will reboot! Continue?[Y/N]:y
3. When the message "Press Ctrl+B to enter Boot Menu :" is displayed, press Ctrl+B and enter the default password. The BootROM main menu is displayed.
For switches running V200R006 or earlier versions, choose "7. Modify bootrom password" and change the BootROM password. The following information is displayed:

1. Boot with default mode
