Risks after upgrading OSNs to mainstream versions using old U2000 version

Some OSN 1800, 8800 and 9800 need to be upgraded to Mainstream versions.


According with documentation, NMS software version needed to perform these upgrades is iManager U2000 V200R018C60.


Current U2000 version is V200R015C60 and, for different reasons, it is not possible to upgrade to V200R018.


Which could be the risks of performing upgrades to the OSNs without upgrade U2000 first?


I think is possible to upgrade OSNs withouth using U2000, but can I have problems with management after the upgrade?


Where can I found information about these possible risks?

Dear friend!

As you mentioned in the post, replace the U2000 V200R018 with V200R015 to upgrade OTN products. The upgrade may fail, or the NMS returns a success message, but some files fail to be loaded. As a result, the device cannot work properly. However, the upgrade may be successful. You are advised to download an LCT version of R18 from Huawei technical support website. Then install it on the PC, which is easy to operate.

So, I must use a V1R18 LCT to perform the upgrade.

But, can I have management issues using V1R15 U2000 as NMS on the OSNs after the upgrade ?

That's not sure. Please check whether the U2000 version supports the new version of the SCC board of the OSN equipment.

You can provide the detailed version information about the SCC board on the U2000 and OSN equipment and then i query the version information for you.
