Reset OceanStor 2800 admin Password

Hello Everyone, so I have this OceanStor 2800 V3 device and I lost the admin password for the device manager.

I tried to reset the password following the reset method mentioned in the documentation here

  1. Connect through serial port

  2. login with user _super_admin using password Admin@revive

  3. issue command initpasswd


However this method did not work, in fact when I put the password for user _super_admin I get access denied warning as per the screenshot below

So can you please suggest another method to recover the password or suggest what might I be doing wrong ?

According to your description, the "_super_admin" password you logged in is incorrect. Please confirm your password.

The default password of the root administrator _super_admin is Admin@revive

Or

Resetting user passwords on DeviceManager
1. Log in to DeviceManager as the super administrator.
NOTE:
The default super administrator name is admin and its password is Admin@storage.

2. Choose Settings > Permission Settings > User Management.
3. In the middle function pane, select a user that you want to modify and click Modify.
The Modify User dialog box is displayed.

4. Select Initialize password. Input Password of Current Login User, New Password, and Confirm Password.
NOTE:
The passwords of LDAP users cannot be initialized.

5. Confirm the password initialization.
a. Click OK.
The security alert dialog box is displayed. Confirm the information in the dialog box and select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation.

b. Click OK.
The Execution Result dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation succeeded.

c. Click Close.

are you able to access device manager gui? or you want to reset through cli?

I had the same problem with 5500 v3, couldn't login to cli or device manager, so i was able to reset it after spending 2 days on it. Juts let me know exactly what do you need

Hello Ihteshamraza, the issue is that admin user password has been lost so I cannot log in to device manager.
So I tried to reset the admin password through CLI, but when I try to log in using the _super_admin user I get access denied warning.

So basically I cannot enter to device manager using admin user nor to serial console using _super_admin user.
What's the workaround for this ?

Did you try _super_admin and Admin@revive account via console?

Thank you very much ganmianpi for your prompt reply.

The main issue is that I don't have access to device manager because admin password has been lost.
And when I try to reset the password using the CLI I cannot enter using the _super_admin user either. I get access denied message as in the screenshot that I shared (I am sure I entered the correct password Admin@revive)

Hello, if you forget _super_admin password, suggest you connect local TAC to solved.  

Try doing this,

There's another super administrator by default in oceanstor

username: _super_admin password: Admin@revive

Login through this account via Console cable.

Once you are logged in, run this command " initpasswd " and follow the process.

 

oceanstore_reset_password

This should work. Let me know if this works for you or if you need any more assistance.
