Hello great friends
please I will need support to the following questions
1) What is RAU low gain
2) what brings about RAU low gain
3) how to check on NMS to know am having an RAU low gain.
4) what's the value of RAU low gain in db
5) how do I know am having RAU low gain on NMS..

Dear friend!

The RAU low gain indicates that the optical amplification capability of the RAU board is far lower than the performance specifications of the board.

The causes of low RAU gains are as follows:
1. No optical power is input.
2. The optical amplifier is disabled.
3. The quality of optical cables does not meet requirements.
Do not use optical fiber connectors within the distance from 0 km to 20 km at the near end of the Raman board. The single-point additional loss within the distance from 0 km to 10 km is less than 0.1 dB (G652) or 0.2 dB (G655). The single-point additional loss within 10 km to 20 km is less than 0.2 dB (G652) or 0.4 dB (G655), the single-point additional loss within 20 km to 30 km is less than 0.4 dB, and the single-point additional loss within 30 km to 40 km is less than 1 dB. The additional loss of a single point at a distance of 40 km is less than 2 dB. In addition, the single-point return loss cannot be less than 40 dB.
4. The setting is incorrect or the board is faulty.


In the NE Explorer, you can view the status of the WDM interface on the board.

The low gain value of the RAU board depends on the actual situation.


Maintenance engineers can check the working status of the RAU board. If the difference between the output power and the input power of the RAU board is not much different from the theoretical value of the RAU board, it indicates that the RAU board is normal.

Please check the product documentation.  

OA_LOW_GAIN alarm is raised when Nominal Gain - Gain > ~ 2.5dB. Nominal Gain value is only set 05dB-10dB in range. Gain value depend on quality of first 40km optical cables

So your Gain is about 3db and Nominal Gain is 5 dB, you can clear this low_gain alarm
