Question about app issue

I have this app installed on my phone that tracks how you drive (I know ...terrible i 192.168.0.1 dea but hey I'm saving 22% on my insurance). Anyways it ran fine on all my other phones but on this phone, the p20 pro, it's not auto starting when I start driving. I allowed full permissions on the app, and also made sure to set the app to "manage manually" in the app launch section. The issue is t whatsapp web hat the app will start on its own but only after driving for about 10 mins. I'll even manually open the app and it still won't detect that the vehicle is in motion.

 So I'm thinking it's something sensor or GPS related that the p20 pro is only checking every so often to see if the car is in motion. Any ideas on what it could be? Again my other phones would be almost instant when the car was in motion, the  routerlogin app would kick on.
