The OptiX NG-SDH equipment carries out TPS as follows:
1. TPS for E1/T1s: When finding a problem with a processing board, the cross-connect board stops the relay on the interface board from sending signals to the processing board. Instead, the cross-connect board orders the relay to forward the signals through the shared bus on the backplane to the protection board. In this way, the signals are protected.
2. TPS for high-rate signals: When finding a problem with a processing board, the cross-connect board orders the relay on the interface board to send signals to the bridging board. Then, the cross-connect board arranges for the two control lines on the bridging board to forward the signals to the protection board. In this way, the signals are protected.
Therefore, the OptiX NG-SDH equipment can perform TPS and restoration without the SCC.
