Purpose of a Tunnel

On a packet network, a tunnel is used to carry PWs, and a PW is used to directly carry client service. The relationship between a tunnel and a PW is the same as that between a VC4 server trail and a VC12 trail.

In a packet service, if a tunnel is abnormal, the PW and service signals carried by the tunnel are affected. The prerequisite for determining whether the tunnel can carry services is to check whether the tunnel performance is normal.

Check method:

1. Find the tunnel to be tested.

2. Test and check the tunnel process.

3. Run the test program.

4. Check the result. If the number of sent packets is equal to the number of received packets, the tunnel is normal.
