Hello, everyone!
Today, I will share knowledge about problems with frequent internet disconnections and how we can fix it. This is the first article about this theme.
In the next table, we can see all problems with frequent internet disconnections. The problem can be the user`s device (router, switch, PC, etc), ONT, OLT, and upper-layer device (BRAS, aggregation switch, router).
User`s devices | Problems with PC |
Problems with user`s network devices
ONT | Problems with the hardware |
Problems with wireless network
OLT | Problems with the hardware |

Upper-layer device | Problems with discard user packets |
Problems with PC
If there is a problem with frequent internet disconnections with one user's device while his other devices are working properly, the problem is the user's device.
One of the most common problems with frequent internet disconnections is the problem on the user side. We have two problems - problems with PCs and problems with users' network devices.
The following problems on the PC cause frequent internet disconnections: PC is faulty and problems with the network adapter.
It often happens that the PC hardware is old or the PC has some software problems and this causes frequent internet disconnections. Generally, the user has to fix the problem with the PC.
The second problem is the network adapter. The driver for the network adapter is damage or the hardware of the network adapter is faulty. There are several ways to solve these problems. Users can fix this problem when upgrade the driver for the network adapter, enable/disable the network adapter, or change the network adapter.
Problems with user`s network devices
Problems with users' network devices are also common. Problems can be the switch, router, and UTP cables. In this case, all user`s devices have problems with frequent internet disconnections (same situation as problems with ONT). We should check the internet service on ONT, if it is ok, the problem may be with the network user equipment.
You should first check the UTP cable that connects the ONT to the router/switch and the cable that connects the router/switch to the PC. If the cables are ok, problems should be looked for on the switch/router. Mostly hardware is the problem. We can fix this problem with change the device.
In practice, it happens that the ONT and the router assign the same pool address and this leads to frequent internet disconnections. The solution is to change the pool address of one of the devices. Or we can set the gateway ONT to work as a bridge ONT. Then, ONT will only forward the IP address to the router. After that, the router will assign addresses to user devices.

Problems with ONT
If the user has a problem with frequent internet disconnections on all devices, the problem is ONT.
The problems with ONT are as follows: hardware of ONT, IP address of ONT, the wireless signal of ONT.
Sometimes, we have a situation where is a hardware problem. The solution is to replace the ONT.
Rarely, there are problems with the IP address of the ONT. The simplest solution is to replace the IP address until we determine why the address is causing the problem.
A very common problem with users is wireless connectivity. The wireless network is affected by many factors - distance from the device (ONT, router), obstacles in the house, other devices that operate on the same frequencies, etc. The ONT or router often cannot signal strong enough to cover the area the user wants. Or Wi-Fi is poor quality. We can fix these problems with change ONT or router, or the user can introduce another router. It is a very complex question to give a short answer. Another problem is the large number of users connected to the same device.
Thank you!
