How to connect the camera to IdeaHub

The built-in camera of IdeaHub does not support sound pickup. The IdeaHub also supports external cameras. The external cameras can be connected to port 5 in the following figure. If the external cameras support the sound pickup function, connect to port 6.

How to check the resolution of the external camera?

Before connecting an external camera, check whether the resolution supported by the camera is the same as that of the IdeaHub. Generally, the camera's specifications are reflected in the product description, but there are always bad sellers.

Here's a way to check the resolution of a camera.


  1. Connect the camera to IdeaHub.

  2. Log in to the IdeaHub and choose Maintenance > Diagnostics > One-Click Diagnostics.

  3. Select the module to diagnose and click Start.

  4. Click Download to save the diagnostics file to the local computer.

  5. Open the file "onekeydiagresult.txt", check the keyword "vivo disVideoInfo", check the value of VerA and HorA, shown below:

    The resolution is 1920*540, it is 1080I.



What can I do if the IdeaHub can not control the external camera?

Generally, the camera cannot be controlled. The possible causes are as follows:

  • The control cable between the camera and IdeaHub hasn't connected.

  • The video input setting is incorrect.

  • The control port setting is incorrect.

  • The camera mode is incorrect.


  1. Check whether the camera is connected to port 9 of the IdeaHub using a control cable. If not, please do it.

  2. Log in to the IdeaHub, and choose System Settings > Input/Output > Video Input, check the following parameter:

  • Serial port

  • Input source: HDMI(external camera)

  • camera type



What can I do if the screen of the camera is black?

The simplest method for the IdeaHub black screen is to switch the video source. If the IdeaHub cannot display images no matter which video source is used, perform the following operations:

  • Switching Video Sources

  • Power off and restart

  • Restore factory settings

  • Service part replacement


If you want to find out where the problem is, look down

1. Check which model of camera does IdeaHub uses.

    Obtain the onekeydiagresult.txt, and search the keywords "hmev hisdkproc himipi".

  • 4 MIPI X1 YUV422_8BIT: external camera

  • 6 MIPI X1 RAW10: local camera


2. Check whether the codec is normal. ( keywords "hmev hisdkproc himipi" in onekeydiagresult.txt)

normal: Local camera (6) decodes 4K data.

abnormal: all are 0.

3. Locate the component whose decoding is abnormal.

    Open the data\slave_data\slave_log, search the keywords "I2C".

  • If [SENSOR_0]fail is exist, the sensor fault.

  • If [EEPROM_0]fail is exist, the EEPROM fault.
