Problem in assigning password on the switch

I'm trying to set the password on a used switch that is reset and is giving an error:
Error: the password appeared in the last 5 times. The password needs to be changed. Change now? [Y / N]:
reset admin password

Hello!


By default, five historical passwords are recorded for each user. If the new password is the same as a stored password, the device displays an error message to prompt the user that password change fails.


You can use the password history record number 0 command to disable the function.


However, to improve password security, it is not recommended that you use a previously used password.

on a AR router fresh install you have the password expiration enable by default. If you have to run tests or run l2tp vpn remote access do this:

   undo password expire

even resetting the switch, it does not let you use the same password that was configured before the reset, would there be any way to circumvent this?

reset boot password

Function

The reset boot password command resets the password of the BootROM/Bootload menu to Admin@huawei.com.

By default, in versions earlier thanV100R006C03, the password of the BootROM is huawei, in V100R006C03 and later versions, the password of theBootROM/Bootload is Admin@huawei.com.

Format

reset boot password [ slot slot-id ]

Parameters

Parameter

slot slot-id

Resets the BootROM/Bootload menu password of a specified slot.

If the parameter is not specified, the device resets the BootROM/Bootload menu passwords of all slots.

The value is an integer and is dependent on the specific device.

Usage Guidelines

If you forget the password of the BootROM/Bootload menu, use the reset boot password command to set the password to Admin@huawei.com. Then you can use this password to enter the BootROM/Bootload menu.

<HUAWEI> reset boot passwordThe password used to enter the boot menu by clicking Ctrl+B or Ctrl+E will be restored to

Please set any new password, which was not being used earlier (atleast for last 5 times).. This is security feature to avoid deault passwords
