Prerequisites
1. The replacement disk module is ready.
2. To prevent services from being affected, use Huawei-certified disk modules that match the product model as spare disk modules (which are obtained by service engineers based on the part numbers of failed disk modules).
3. The disk module that you want to replace has been located.
Note:
You can locate a component in either of the following ways:
l Log in to DeviceManager, in the device view of the System, view and record the position of the component to be replaced. If the component has a location indicator, turn on the indicator. (For details about how to turn on a location indicator, see the online help of the DeviceManager.)
l Use the alarm indicator of the component to locate the component.
Precautions
1. When handling a disk module, hold only its edge to prevent it from damage.
2. Remove and insert a disk module with even force. Excessive force may damage the appearance or connectors of the disk module.
3. When removing a non SSD disk module, pull the disk module partially out of its slot. Wait 20 seconds until its disk spins down and then pull it completely out of the slot.
4. To prevent disk module damage, wait at least one minute after removing and before reinserting a disk module, or after insertion and before removal of a disk module.
5. To prevent data loss, replace only a disk module whose Alarm/Location indicator is steady red.
6. Shorten the duration of replacing a disk module as much as possible.
7. You must use Toolkit to replace risky disks (not faulty yet).
8. Ensure that the replacement disk module is inserted into the same slot as the original disk module. If you insert the replacement disk module into a wrong slot, the system may be faulty.
