We noticed that some smartphones and STAs PC with iOS connects to the public network but when the browser is opened it does not jump to the portal automatically as it should, so it doesn’t have access to Internet. Pages that are cached in the terminal don’t refresh and still don’t jump to the portal. However, if the user try to access a different website, he is redirected to the portal where he can validate himself (accept disclaimer) and acquire internet access.
None, portal page not opened automatically on iOS STAs.
- Checked configuration for portal and all looked good;
- Check if there is command “portal captive-adaptive enable” that enables CNA adaptive function for iOS devices;
- Checked if there is also command “portal captive-bypass enable” that enables the CNA bypass function for iOS terminals;
- Did a trace to check the STA operation until portal authentication and all looked good;
[AC6005]trace object mac-address xxxx-xxxx-xxxx
[AC6005]trace enable
- Checked if on Android and Windows device it’s the same behavior and it’s not, on those STAs portal opens automatically;
- Removed command “undo portal captive-bypass enable” and retried and issue solved;
The CNA bypass function for iOS terminals apparently blocked the automatic opening of the portal page on the iOS devices
Remove the CAN bypass function using command “undo portal captive-bypass enable”.
This is what I want to talk about/share with you today, thank you!
